Piano Online Performance: Fur Elise
Fur Elise – Piano Online Performance
Welcome back to my blog…
unless of course it is your first time here. In this case… just welcome!
Let’s begin this blog with a video performance. In the following video I am playing the classical composition Fur Elise.
As part of this blog I will continually be providing you with free video piano lessons. The way that I teach these lessons will be consistent with my own philosophies on teaching and learning music.
So let me tell you about some of the things that I like and some of the things that I don’t like…in no particular order:
I do like playing songs on the piano, but I do not like long hours of practice.
I do not like tedious exercises and drills, but I do like learning piano pieces.
I do like bridges, but I do not like burning bridges.
I do not like drama, but I do like dromedary camels.
Hmmm… I think I’m getting a bit off topic here.
Anyway… in accordance with my basic music philosophy, I will be teaching the piano by teaching you how to play actual songs.
Now some of you may be asking “Can I become a good piano player just by learning songs?”
My answer to you is that you can become good enough to play those songs that you practice.
For those of you that would like to become exceptional piano players, I will use this blog to point you in the right direction. After each video lesson I will provide additional information for those of you that want to take things to the next level.
The first song that I will teach you how to play is Fur Elise.
What a coincidence! This is the same song I am playing in the video above.
If you haven’t done so already, I suggest that you play the video and listen to the entire song.
Fur Elise was written by the composer Ludwig van Beethoven when he was already an established composer in 1810.
Notice that the song is comprised of three different movements.
A movement is a self-contained part of a musical composition.
In other words, each individual movement could actually be considered its own song.
For example, many people only learn the first movement of Fur Elise because it is the easiest.
The first movement can be learned by anyone quite easily, and in addition, it is a beautiful piece of music that almost everyone loves to listen to.
In the coming weeks I will be teaching you how to play all three movements. This will be done in 11 lessons.
If you wish to learn the song without getting bogged down in theory and technical knowledge, then simply watch each video lesson one at a time. Make sure you sit at your piano or keyboard as you watch the lessons and practice what I teach you. Do not forget to rewind frequently until you internalize each new part.
For those of you that want to get started learning the song right away, all 11 lessons are already available on the Lessons page of my website. You can find them here: Fur Elise Piano Lessons
If you would like to learn some musical theory as we go, I will be providing that for you as well. You may want to start by getting a copy of the sheet music for Fur Elise.
For example, you can purchase it using the following link: Fur Elise sheet music
Now before you click on the link above, it is important that I tell you that it is an affiliate link. This means that if you click on it and decide to make a purchase, I get a small commission from the seller.
So if you do decide to purchase the sheet music and you want to support this blog, then use the above link before making the purchase.
But if you hate this blog, or me, or affiliate links, then avoid clicking the above link at all costs!
Let me just emphasize that you will never need any sheet music or any other products to learn from my videos. You can enjoy my website, my blog, and learn how to play the piano without spending a dime… well except thousands of dollars for the piano of course…
Stay tuned for your first lesson…
